"Beit Shemesh Resident Has Problems with Gas Company "Dorgas
We received the following letter from a local resident, detailing her problems with the gas company. We reproduce it as is:
I read this morning in Tehillim that the land will be filled with "Hamas"-- violence, until HaShem rids the land of it.
This is my experience with the gas company Dorgas and I was wondering if others have had similar criminal treatment.
I recently moved to a new apartment. I received a form to fill out from the gas company.
I filled it out and faxed it back to Dorgas. I never heard back from them.
So I called them. I wanted to start paying my bill. I didn't want it to hit me later.
I told the clerk on the phone the date of my move and she said there was a balance.
I gave her my credit card info and offered to pay it.
She said she needed to send a technician for 150 shekels to check everything and I said, "no problem, send him" and arranged a time.
I then asked her the dates of the service and was told that it was for a bill from half a year previously.
I told her it wasn't my bill as I had just moved in and told her to cancel my credit payment -- for the bill that clearly wasn't mine.
She started yelling at me [it's all recorded] saying if I didn't pay the old balance that wasn't mine, she would send someone to disconnect my gas.
I asked to speak with her manager. S. got on the phone, yelled at me that she heard everything and that if I didn't pay -- the bill that wasn't mine, tomorrow a technician was coming to disconnect the gas.
I was in shock, but I made one more call to speak with higher management.
This couldn't be the policy of the company. Clearly, they didn't want their staff yelling at the customers and threatening to shut off the gas for other customers' bills!!!
B. said he was a manager for Dorgas. He just repeated the same threats.
Wednesday morning they turned off my gas…
My daughter called them and was told the landlord paid the debt and the technician would be coming to turn the gas back on before 3:00 pm. The hour came and went.
When my daughter just called to find out why no one showed up R. said, "We're not sending anyone to your mother for another week.
It's Erev Shabbos, and I have relatives over for Shabbos from America!
Tell me: Have I landed in Sodom and Gomorrah where justice is upside-down?
Is this other people's experience too? Is there anyone to speak with? Any recourse?
P.S. My landlord claims there never was any debt…
