Is Greenberg Finally Running For Mayor?
Mehadrinews estimated the Charedi internal primaries for runs in the upcoming mayoral election will heat up only after the holidays, remember? So… maybe not.
Anonymous sources in "Degel Hatorah" told Kav Itonut Datit the party intends to run their own candidate for the 2018 elections. They also spoke of a rotation deal between Degel, Shas, and Shlomei Emunim stating next time is their turn.
After the holidays, huh?
Already during Chol Hamoed Sukkos, it is reported, there will be a meeting of senior activists in the Sukkah of the natural nominee from their point of view: Deputy Mayor Shmuel Greenberg. This will happen on Monday, 4 of Chol Hamoed.
Moshe Abutbul himself, obviously intends to run for mayor again, dependent, of course, on Shas' Moetzet's approval.
We turned to Shmuel Greenberg to receive his response:
There are no preparation for city elections, so there's nothing to answer. When the preparations begin we'll have what to talk about. There is no point speaking of hopes yet. It's too early. Nothing is happening yet.
Now party activists claim the location was decided by random lottery (Sure! With Dayanim, lawyers, accountants, etc.), and has no political significance. But the auction is a new custom (if true), and is clearly a smokescreen for the fact the location is, in fact, significant. Moshe Montag's people, on the other hand, see this as a coup against him.
With Heaven's help, Yehuda Segal
