Rising Sun: An Overview of the Growth in Beit Shemesh
Beit Shemesh, city population (thank G-d) of 110,000, is "The youngest city in the country" according to the Israeli Bureau of Statistics. The city is expected to double in size within a decade.
As reported on Mehadrinews, a few months ago Ceiling Agreements guaranteed the construction of over 17,000 new homes, thousands of them on Resident Price auctions, housing about 70,000 people. In wake of the agreement, Beit Shemesh will receive 3.6 billion Shekels (1 billion, to be more exact), half a billion for schools.
The agreement also includes development of industrial zones, trade and hotels covering 530 Dunam, opening Road 38 to two-way traffic, and investment in transportation and public utilities.
"Madlan", an Israeli Real Estate site, estimates the price of an average new four-room apartment at 1.4 million NIS, and a second-hand apartment at 1.2. The true price is closer to 1.2 and one million, respectively, depending on the exact location.
To remind you, none of this could have happened without Charedim…
