The Mayor Visits Mishkan Shiloh
Beit Shemesh Mayor Moshe Abutbul made a unique visit to ancient Shilo. Shilo is near Jerusalem and is under the spiritual supervision of Mishmeres Hakodesh Vehachinuch.
Abutbul toured the place with his municipal staff, led by chief of Moetzet Mateh Binyamin, Mr. Avi Roeh, and site management.
During his visit at the site, considered popular among Charedi vacationers, the mayor was impressed by the combination of fun and educational content about the Mishkan.
The trip's highlight was the audiovisual show. Abutbul watched the show, specially adapted for the Charedi public by Yehuda Groweiss. The show has been praised by boys' and girls' elementary and high schools.
The mayor also toured the vantage point wherefrom one can see the spot where Chana prayed her famous prayer, checked out jars from the Mishkan Age, over 3,100 years ago, and candles from the Second Temple Period, 2,000 years ago.
The Shilo visitor center contains remnants of the ancient, biblical city of Shilo. There are presently ongoing archeological efforts to uncover further topographical secrets of the city, to better understand what the city looked like in the days of Yehoshua Bin Nun.
Apart from the historical aspect, ancient Shilo has an array of interactive attractions for visitors, including an audiovisual show beamed on glass panes with a background view of untouched nature.
The tour also contains a division for hands-on activities, helping visitors appreciate the crafts used in the past, including wool weaving, pottery production, flute-making, and more.
